DescriptionPOSTER SESSIONS: TUESDAY, 30 JULY and WEDNESDAY, 31 JULY, 12:15-1:15 PM

The poster presents the optimal weighting functions for Multiple Importance Sampling. It shows that the variance bounds of the commonly used balance heuristic do not generally hold and the optimal weights can perform much better. It also shows that the optimal weights are equivalent to the optimal control variate.
